Numbers: 28 of November,2020

I haven’t updated my numbers in a while, and let me tell you, it is not very promising.

My total for this year is 3,898 of the 37,984 pages of my goal.

I am fully aware that my mind is preoccupied with another pressing matters but also this is a very short year of reading, so I have to make every little moment count.

Right now I am 24 days behind schedule, but December will be an intensive month of reading , and hopefully; I’ll get back on track.

On the broader picture, I have a total of 329,441 pages, and according to my calculations my 1,000,000 pages goal is 9,025 days away, that will mean that I’m 5,184 days behind schedule.

Should I keep this pace up, I would be 64 years, 2 months, and 9 days old when my coveted goal is reach, only 14 years late.

Well I am not having it, slowly but steady, those days will be reduced.

For now, I am off to read.

Procrastination at its finest

I had a few really slow days of reading.

To be completely honest, I have my mind elsewhere, mainly on my thesis dissertation, which is Monday by the way.

But today was a bit more relaxed, so I decided to catch up on The Mandalorian, and because I am a sucker for Bounty Hunters from Star Wars, continue with the next three issues of Bounty Hunters, written by Ethan Sacks, which follows the stories of some of the galaxy’s most infamous hunters.

Hopefully December will be an amazing month, which I am aiming for more than 6,000 pages and a readathon around Christmas, but more on that later.

For now, I am off to read.

Focused reading

This morning I had a very productive reading, finished the first volume of Dawn of X, read a couple of short stories from Ciudas y otros relatos, written by Édgar Velasco, and published by the amazing independent publisher Paraiso Perdido.

For today I am aiming to surpass 1,000 pages tracked using the Bookly app .

It’s a long shot, but I have some waiting to do, so I’ll use my time wisely.

For now, I am off to read.

Here Comes the Sun

Today would have been my father’s 69th birthday.

I missed him terribly, but his memory lives strong in the world that surrounds me.

We shared a love for The Beatles and Bob Dylan, and as luck will have it, the first song that I heard after the birth of both my children was George Harrison’s Here comes the Sun, our favorite Beatle by the way.

Today as I sit to read ,remembering him, I push play list in random, and this comes up.

Thank you Dad, I love you and miss you dearly.

200 days

I have 200 days left of this short “year” of reading, and still over 34,000 pages to go.

As I was saying yesterday, I never back down from a challenge, by the end of this month I will be free from my work on my Masters degree, and I’ll go into turbo mode.

One of the highlights of today is that I read the first 100 pages of my trek thru the Malazan Empire, only 3890 pages to go.

Tonight I think a big batch of caffeine is in order, accompanied by a couple of X- men graphic novels.

For now, I am off to read.

Never back down from a challenge

I have been preoccupied with a lot of things lately, and of course my reading has been a bit affected.

My challenge for this month in Bookly was a whopping 3,703 pages, from which I have read a meager 372 pages.

Like I said, never back down from a challenge, it doesn’t matter if I reach the goal, the fun is the journey there.

3,331 pages , 14 days, sounds like a fun challenge.

For now, I am off to read.

The final march into Genabackis

I have decided that I going to focus on finishing The Malazan Book of the Fallen, an 10-part epic series by Canadian writer Steven Erikson.

Yesterday, I started the seventh book, Reaper’s Gale, and the plan is to keep track of the remaining four books as one long read.

With that in mind here is the length of each one starting with 1003 pages of Reaper’s Gale.

Followed by the 1,270 pages of Toll the Hounds.

The ninth book is Dust of Dreams, with a total of 816 pages.

And finally, the epic conclusion, The Crippled God, with a total of 908 pages.

Combined they give me 3,997 pages, a great challenge for this year, which consequently will be a short one , this in order to coincide the end of each one with my birthday. Concluding in 2031, with my 50th birthday.

To start off the Malazan Challenge, I have read 41 of the 3,997.

For now, I am off to read.

Last day of the readathon

This is the last hours of Bookly’s Fall readathon, and I have reach a total of 7 hours and 15 minutes

I am confident that I can reach at least the 10 hours of the challenge.

My three focus are: get those 10 hours, finish Vengeance of the Iron Dwarf, and read 600 pages, I have 468 so far.

For now, I am off to read.

8 years on WordPress

Yesterday was my 8th anniversary using WordPress to write my blog.

And after 710 posts, more than 6,500 visits, and 3,600 visitors, I can only say thank you for coming along for the ride.

Here is for many more years.

Halfway there, or, the second report of the readathon

As I start the 3 day of Bookly’s Fall Readathon, the halfway mark has been achieved.

Yesterday was a slow day of reading, being that was cleaning and laundry day, I just read about 42 minutes.

I’ll make it up today, and hopefully tomorrow I will be reaching the coveted goal of 10 hours of reading.

Also, my current total of pages is 364 , and I am still reading Vengeance of the Iron Dwarf, and the second volume of Werewolf by night.

For now, I am off to read.
