(Y-10) Catching up with some art.

I finally had the time to catch-up with some new art exhibitions.

All of this on one of my favorite spots in my fair city, Museo de Arte de Ciudad Juárez.

I only had time to peruse two on the three new exhibitions, but I’ll make the time to peruse the one left.

In the main room there is a collection of mural studies by famous mexican muralist, Aurora Reyes, considered a pioneer female artist.

The second exhibition about sensuality and sexuality in Mexico, a really interesting and sad reality of marginalization of the LGBT community and any sexual liberation front in our country, which in retrospect has not change that much in the course of the last 50 years.

If you get the chance to visit the museum, please do.

Not only for the great art but also it is a great space to wander around and relax.

(Y-10) The Drought is over

Today marks the end of a genuinely shitty streak of not finishing anything.

No Books.

No Graphic Novels.

No Comics.

Nothing.

But luckily there will always be The Dark Knight to save my sorry ass.

The last registered book was The Servant of the Shard, on April 7.

20 long days

The third volume of Batman, The Death of the Family, by the impressive creative team of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, came to put an end to my prolonged drought, and to top it off, it marks the return of The Joker to Gotham.

Exquisitely done, you can feel tense all throughout the book.

And to keep this machine rolling, yesterday, I finished the fifteen book of The Legend of Drizzt saga, The Promise of the Witch-King, although the legendary drow ranger does not make an appearance, his two main antagonists, Jarlaxle and Artemis Entreri, can carry the story without a flinch.

For now, I’ll focus on the sixteen book of the saga mentioned above, Road of the Patriarch and a graphic novel. Punk Rock Jesus by Sean Murphy.

Keep on going, keep on reaching for that ultimate goal, although it seems unobtainable, I’ll just keep pushing myself.

Some quick number for this the tenth year of my crazy project.

  • 15 books read.
  • 13,551 total pages.
  • 83,215 pages to go.
  • 162 days left in the year of reading.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-10) Pulitzer Prize Winner 2018

Today was announced these year recipients of the prestigious Pulitzer Prize.

You can find the complete list of winners here.

It was indeed a surprise, a joyful one none the less, to see Kendrick Lamar’s album Damn snatched the honor for music.

If you haven’t heard it, go and find it in any streaming service, quite a journey.

(Y-10) Painfully lagging

These past few days have been really killer for my progress.

I need to regroup and march on with my reading goals.

I’ll schedule my time to jump between the massive pile of digital and printed Graphic Novels and my enormous pile of books to read.

So, one thing at a time, first I’ll power through Batman Vol. 3: Death of the Family

And then focus on my roaming thru Faerûn with Drizzt and company.

Luckily I’ll have some new sonic companions, three to be exact, but for tonight I will be in good company with The Boss himself.

(Y-10) Reading…reading…reading

I have come to the conclusion that my quest through epicness is going to extended on to next year.

I have a list of 100 books that is not going down without a fight.

Right now I am working on the second book of The Sellswords Trilogy, The Promise of the Witch-King, number fifteen of the Legend of Drizzt saga.

20180408_031911637199932.jpg

There are thirty three books of this amazing saga, so, I am getting near the half-point mark.

At the end of my trek true Faerûn awaits another epic quest, The Malazan book of the Fallen, ten main novels and a few more world-expansion stories.

I see my time for this tenth year rapidly depleting.

The new plan is to expand this reading list to two consecutive years of pure epicness

On my next entry there will be a detail list of what is in my read pile and my to-read list.

For this year I have reach 13,032 pages, still a long way to go.

Just keep on reading.

(Y-10) I won’t say goodbye, I’ll say fare thee well..

Well, our little getaway has come to an end, but it was really what I needed, some sun, some wind, some wine (actually lots of it) and most of all some peaceful time away from the daily grind.

As posted on the last entry my first stop was White Sand National Monument, after soaking some sun, we spent the night in Alamogordo.

The next day, after a much-needed rest, we went and visit one of our childhood staples, The New Mexico Museum of Space History, it sits high on a hill with some glorious mountains to frame its 4 stories of space exploration.

It was entertaining getting lost between space suits, rocket models, and even a special Star Trek exhibition.

After a few hours of perusing we headed to our next destination, Ruidoso, tuck away in the beautiful Lincoln National Forest, indeed a bastion of peace and quiet.

The first afternoon was dedicated to doing nothing at all, just some reading, which, consequently, I finally finished reading The Servant of the Shard, and enjoying our excellent accommodations.

The Second day we did some light exploring, went to Grindstone Lake, walked the Ruidoso River Trail and finished the day with some wine tasting at the fantastic Noisy Water Winery, in which an accommodating staff walked us through their different varieties and even gave us a taste of their signature green chile wine.

I bought some bottles and hope to write about them shortly.

In all, it was a great outing and just what I needed to get ready for the next phase of my upcoming plans.

Tomorrow, I’ll post an update on my total pages and my progress with this year full of epicness,

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-10) On the road

The first day of our getaway was an astounding success.

We visited the gorgeous National Park of White Sands in New Mexico.

I’m in love with the desert, it calls to me quite strongly and being surrounded by such breath taking beauty it just make my day.

We walked bare footed in the smooth pure white sand and reconnected with nature, which, if you ask me, was long overdue.

So, day one is done, now to relax, get some rest and read for a while.

Anxious to what tomorrow stores.

happy readings!!!

(Y-10) On my last leg…for today

I’m shutting for the day, it was a good day for my reading, not quite where I wanted to close the day, but none the less, a good day.

I leave the day, of course for the current book, on page 87 of 348.

Tomorrow will be a hectic day but on Thursday the voyage begins, and lots of reading with astounding views.

For the last stretch, I will have the sonic assistance of Pearl Jam in the form of their sophomore release VS.

Getting back to my total page count for the year, I finally had a chance to update my reading logs, and I’m glad to inform a 12,684 page total.

Still a lot of work ahead, but, as always, highly motivated.

Now back to reading, to close this day out with at least 100 pages of progress.

azr.

(Y-10) up and running

I’ll be keeping track of my reading on My Goodreads Page

I’m glad to inform that my pace is good and steady in hopes that it will pick-up later in the afternoon.

For this first reading session, I will be asking the sonic assistance of The War on Drugs in the form of A Deeper Understanding, one of my favorite albums of last year.

Right now, reading The Servant of the Shard on page 46 of 348.

I’ll keep you post it.
